Asoma is born
The story of Asoma begins with a grandmother, Aune Soininen. It was during the war, in 1942. Establishing new businesses required a permit and due to regulations, obtaining raw materials was almost impossible. Nonetheless, the determined Mrs. Soininen had a business idea and a vision. After all, everyone needs something to carry their belongings in. This gave rise to the case making business. It was started under a rental name and in rented premises. The company received its current name in 1948 when it was registered as a limited liability company in the commercial register.

From a case maker to a pioneer in the plastics industry
The vision of Aune led to Asoma’s growth and transformation into a family business. Our own factory was built in Kangasala in the late 70s, after which it has gone through countless changes and expansions. The operations within its premises have also undergone changes over the years. In the late 90s, the production of plastic products began alongside the case business. From being a full-time case maker, we have grown into a pioneer in the entire plastic industry, in design, development, and manufacturing.

Family business in its third generation
We are one of Finland’s leading manufacturers of vacuum formed plastic parts. Our long journey has brought together a great team, expertise, and a desire to do quality work. Now, the third generation continues the Asoma story. Our customers represent leading companies in the automotive, electronics, machinery and equipment, as well as medical and healthcare industries. Ideas and products have changed over the years, but our team and entrepreneurial spirit have stayed the same!
1942
The company’s operations begin
1948
Asoma Oy is registered in the trade register
The company obtained its name and became a limited company in 1948 when it was registered in the commercial register. Asoma, grew and became a family business when Aune’s sons Jarmo and Pekka joined the company.
1977
The new factory in Kangasala starts operating
As production increased, the old production facilities no longer served the needs. Our own factory was completed in Kangasala in 1977, where it still operates today. Over the years, many changes and expansions have been made to the factory.
1982
The cases are accompanied by plastic products.
Alongside the case business, we began manufacturing plastic products which are now our main industry.
1990
New acquisitions for plastic production
Following the incorporation of the plastic manufacturing into Asomas business and its increasing demand, a large vacuum forming machine and the first CNC machine were acquired. The plastic manufacturing process developed and accelerated.
1999
First 3D-designed plastic parts in production
Alongside handmade tools came tools manufactured with a machining process based on a 3D files. The precision and efficiency of tool production reached a completely new level.
2009
CAD/CAM-based manufacturing is here to stay
The use of handmade model pieces for programming milling machines ended. CNC cutting programs for molded products were made directly from the 3D file. This resulted in plastic products being closely matched to 3D files and precise in measurements.
2020
Plastic production replaces case making
The case production in Kangasala came to an end and the bag store and repair shop in Helsinki ceased operations in 2020. Our focus is strongly on plastic production and its continuous development.
