Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

From this page, you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about vacuum forming, material selection, manufacturing methods, and Asoma’s services. We help companies find cost-effective and practical solutions for plastic part manufacturing — from design to finished products.

Vacuum forming is an excellent method for manufacturing plastic parts that require a lightweight yet durable structure, good repeatability, and cost efficiency. The method is commonly used in:

  • industrial protective and enclosure parts
  • housings for equipment and machinery
  • components for the automotive industry
  • other protective covers for various products

Vacuum forming is particularly competitive for small to medium production lots, as tooling costs are often significantly lower compared to methods such as injection molding.

As a general guideline, the maximum dimensions are approximately 1800 × 1100 × 500 mm. The depth and geometry of the product affect the maximum achievable size of the formed part.

In addition, it is recommended to consider 2–3 degrees draft angles on side surfaces in the design phase to ensure efficient manufacturing.

At Asoma, we focus primarily on vacuum forming. However, after vacuum forming most products undergo further processing, such as:

  • CNC machining
  • assembly and finishing of parts

We can also offer cut and bent plastic parts, that enable cost-effective production of various protective components for machines and equipment.

Yes. We help our customers evaluate whether vacuum forming is the most suitable manufacturing method for their product. During the design phase, we assess factors such as geometry of the part, intended use, production volume, and material requirements.

Several commonly used plastics can be vacuum formed, such as ABS, HDPE, HIPS, and PC sheets. Material selection is based on application requirements, including:

  • impact resistance
  • heat resistance
  • chemical resistance
  • appearance and surface quality

Yes. Asoma’s services are mainly aimed at business customers who require reliable contract manufacturing for their parts or products.
